About praCSys AI

raCSys AI helps organisations turn computer science and artificial intelligence expertise into practical value.

We provide a flexible route to consultancy, applied research and professional development, bringing together organisational insight and specialist academic knowledge. Our work is designed around clearly defined needs rather than technology for its own sake.

Our university connections

praCSys AI is an operating division of University of Birmingham Enterprise Limited, established and led by academics and professional staff from the University of Birmingham’s School of Computer Science.

The division provides an agile route through which the School’s expertise can be applied to real-world organisational challenges. Our projects are shaped and delivered by specialists from the School of Computer Science, drawing on expertise across artificial intelligence, human-centred computing, cybersecurity and privacy, robotics, computational methods, and related areas.

University of Birmingham Enterprise Limited provides the commercial and contractual framework through which praCSys AI operates, enabling the School’s expertise to be delivered to businesses, public-sector bodies and other external organisations.

Our purpose

Our purpose is to make specialist knowledge more accessible to organisations and accelerate the responsible translation of research into practical application.

We aim to:

  • help organisations identify meaningful uses of AI;
  • support the development and evaluation of intelligent systems;
  • strengthen AI knowledge and capability within organisations; and
  • create productive connections between academia and external partners.
